This too shall pass… Embracing the Winter Solstice

Today is the winter solstice here in the UK. It’s a time to be still, to ready ourselves to move forward. Let your breathing become slow, deep, easy. Relax and continue breathing deeply and gently as… We enter the time of the greatest dark. It is the dark of the longest night. …the dark of the universe between the stars and planets. …the dark of the sea, …the dark of the womb. Wrap this darkness gently about you like a comfortable blanket.
The name SOLSTICE means sun stands still. At the heart of the Winter Solstice is the birth of the sun – both personally and universally. Our spirit being reborn and transformed from inner darkness into light as the day following the solstice brings more light and an awakening of spirit.
The solstice arrives just at the point when you are tired of all the holiday commotion, and distraction.
You are ready for some closure on the hustle and bustle of the season.
You are more than ready to lay to rest all the worries, and the cares of the old year.
You look forward to ushering in the hope and promise of a brand new year. a brand new chapter in your lives.
So the solstice is actually a time of renewal.
Nature reminds us of transience, that all things must pass.
Stay with the moment, breathe and connect, for it too will pass…
A thought for birth, for parenting, for life…
