We had our baby girl, Leila Rose, on Saturday. I had to be induced at 39 weeks due to concerns over the size of the baby’s heart so things weren’t quite as planned.

I managed to make it to 5cm with just the hypno techniques which was great but then the hormone drip had to be cranked up so unfortunately I had no time to adjust to the increasing surges and opted for an epidural.  I’m obviously disappointed that I didn’t get through the entire labour but it was never going to be as I wanted because of the concerns over Leila’s heart.  UCH labour ward was AMAZING.  The midwives were incredible and really respected our ‘wish list’ and tried to do as much as they could to make sure we had the birth we wanted.  The information from your classes was invaluable.  Jim and I felt that we understood every step and could make informed decisions about each option.  And going into the induction with the relaxation techniques meant that I wasn’t frightened, just excited about meeting our baby!

But Leila is healthy and we’re enjoying being home! She’s settling in at home very nicely but needs to eat more!!  She just sleeps through her feeds.  But each day is getting a little better so she’ll get there.
