Thanks so much Kat, it’s so good to have your support. In the end I went into self-hypnosis and was told very clearly by the higher voice inside myself that everything was fine. I then spoke to the baby who said me working so hard was making it hard to want to engage as I clearly didn’t want it (true – I wasn’t enjoying the waddling feeling whenever he came down too far) At which point I reprioritised on the spot and I kind of felt him wiggling down further. This was in the middle of the night. By the time I had the scan at 2pm the next day his head was down and everything was fine.

It taught me two important things for labour – one is that I can trust the inner voice – I was in a real state of panic but the moment I tuned in, it was as clear as day that there was nothing to worry about. The other is that listening to midwives does have the capacity to shake me up and I must be very disciplined about allowing myself to get swept up in fear. I was a complete mess. My hope is that I’ve now learned this close enough in advance of the birth process that I will remember and be disciplined during the birth.

I also got to see him on the scan and see that everything is more than fine. He was really well and measuring just right with everything and we saw his face which is already incredibly familiar.

Thanks so much for your teaching and support.
