“Looking back at it I’m saying: wow! I did it!”

Hi Kat,
It’s Rita and Alessandro from hypnobirthing class.
We wanted to say THANK YOU!!!
Our baby Alice was born on the 10th of January (6 days after the “due date”) she’s just 6 weeks now and she’s our joy!
Everything went well smooth and quick! Of course a bit painful but nothing you can’t handle.. I already forgot it 😊
Everything started on the 9th afternoon, I started to have a mild pain like period pain then slowly increased, until I was having the first wave of surges.. I was in control of the situation. What helped me was the image of a flame of a candle initially blue in colour and then turning red when the surge reached its peak. I imagined to blow off the red flame when I was breathing out until it was blue again.
that’s what helped me going.
It just came to me I didn’t expect it!
By 11pm they were more regular, closer to each other and stronger so
we thought “this is it!”
We decided to go to the hospital feeling very optimistic..
No no,, I wasn’t dilated!
Hospital sent us back home!
But this didn’t put us off because we heard about it, we heard it could happen, we knew it from the class, so we went back home ready for an other 4 hours (that’s the time they gave me) The surges were stronger but we managed to go through it.. meantime.. at home… keep breathing, crying, a bit of screaming, having a bath, neighbours knocking on the door, (they didn’t know I was in labour thinking we were having a party! ) and squeezing Alessandro’s arms like there wasn’t a tomorrow.. I felt in control aswell to control the contractions with the breathing and with all the knowledge I get from the class.
It was a bit harder as they were stronger but still I was doing it! And looking back at it I’m saying: wow! I did it!
4am time to go again, taxi driver wanted to share his experience with us! A father of 4!
Once at the hospital they let me stay
I was dilated enough..
finally I had the room but we didn’t had time to settle nor to fill the pool up as baby Alice wanted to come out!
They gave me gas and air but didn’t like it at all! I preferred without! Fortunately Alice didn’t make me wait long..
I suddenly started to feel the baby so low that I screamed to the midwife:“baby!!!” An hour later at 5.04am Alice was born.
Thank you so much for everything
Rita, Alessandro & Alice
