“A woman on a HypnoBirthing mission!”

Hi hypnobirthing friends,

Teacher Kat thank you so much for giving us all your knowledge, state of mind and inspiration! I wanted to let you know that our beautiful little girl Maia was born on the 11th of September at 7.46 am (3 days after due date). I have attached a photo where she says hello to you all!

We didn’t get to use the birth centre in the end because the little one did a little pooh in the womb so for medical reasons the baby and I had to be monitored the whole way through in the labour ward. When the doctor came to see us he said he would give me 4 hours to establish the labour properly other wise I would have to be induced- so there I went, a woman on a hypnobirthing mission! The hypnobirthing philosophy, state of mind, techniques (especially Gordon’s fantastic lower back massage) and his supportive presence marched us through the process as a team.

I did establish labour successfully in 4 hours and in the 7 hours my labour took in total I listened to ‘birth affirmations with Marie Mongan about 12 times in complete silence haha. I have never been so quiet in my life according to Gordon. He recalls very vividly pressing replay every 30 minutes on request by me.

I sat on a birthing ball the first stage and than moved to the raised high-end of the bed for the final surges (like in one of the films Kat showed us actually) I did my breathing techniques in a trance that I have never experienced before in my life and I did not use any pain-relief. The surges did hurt though but the breathing was a fantastic distraction from it and together with Marie Mongan in my trance and the knowledge that my body was in control if I stayed in ‘the relaxation room’ it was bearable.

I believe listening to this song every morning and evening for a month did the trick and made me feel at home even though I was hooked up to measuring equipment and with a drip in my arm in the hospital. At the end we got the most beautiful miracle of life Maia. She was very alert yet peaceful and drank from my breast skin to skin straight after she was born.

That was our birth story in a nutshell:0)

Best wishes,
Maia, Gordon and Stella
