“I birthed him out in no time at all and in no pain, scooping him up out of the pool in my arms”

I had a stressful unpleasant day waiting over 2 hrs at the hospital to see a consultant on my actual due date. The consultant was very insistent (almost forceful) on getting me booked in for an induction, which I questioned only to feel fobbed off with answers that didn’t match what I asked. Anyhow I messaged you wanting to have a chat and you sent over some info and we booked in time for the next morning. That evening I decided I would stop over analysing things till the next day and decided to just relax and chill the rest of the evening.

At 2,30 am my waters naturally broke (Wednesday 16th) we stayed home resting in bed, dozing between surges, at 5.30am we were up and James was taking the other 2 boys to my mother in-laws next door. We arrived at hospital around 6am, and in my room by 6.15 and in the birth pool just after 6.30 am. The lovely midwife read my birth plan and respected it completely, they even hung my affirmations up while filling the pool. She did one check and I was 5 cm and said my waters had broken but the head was blocking the rest of the waters to finish coming out. She asked if I wanted it broken to speed things up. I was calm asked all the questions and felt assured it would not stress the baby or prolong things as it wasn’t the same as a waters being focused broken as they had actually broken themselves but were a little slow in coming out and it was more like making a bigger hole to allow baby to make his descend.

I truly trusted her and by god did it work. I was barely in the pool before my surges quickened and intensified, so much so I almost missed that I was actually ready to down breathe. I must have done 4-5 strong surges before I was breathing him out. I mean I really bloody breathed him out. Midwife left me to it but was incredible using all the right words to remind what I was meant to be doing. Every time I looked like I had stopped breathing she reminded me, and told me to go with his movement, to follow what I was feeling etc, it was incredible, nothing like Ralphs at this stage, no sting or burn, I could feel the shape of him coming out, like my breath was following the path he took.

he was born 7.10 am this stage lasting no more than 10-15 mins. All perfect and natural with no intervention weighting 7’3, He’s super healthy and feeding well. I’m totally fine, no tears whatsoever and I’m even back out on long walks with the dog.

I was a little out of it in the golden hour due to very strong continuous uterus contractions which I had no idea was a thing and more often happens when your onto multiple births, James was able to spend this time with Quinn and have that quality skin to skin time (first time we have not had a kid whisked away), but once the pain killers kicked in, I was floating on them amazing endorphins.

Once again I can’t thank you enough for all your help.
