Hi Kat!

I hope you’re well and enjoying this lovely weather.  I never made it to your Wednesday morning catch ups, so I wanted to fill you in on life at our end.
Our little monkey as you know was due March 16th, after deferring an induction 3 times I succumbed and went in on Monday 26th to the Homerton to get all gelled up…..
The HypnoBirthing really came into its own for this part, it made me feel so calm and relaxed the whole time, even when the team came into to see if they could rupture my membranes, but all they found was after 30 hours,  my cervix hadn’t opened even one centimeter!  They offered me the oxytocin drip but Nik and I had already chatted about it and we’d decided if it came to that we’d go for a C-Section.
So we were booked in for a section the next day Weds 28th at 8am……… Not really sure what was going on with my body that day, but they spent an hour trying to sedate me.  It took three different teams of anaesthetists three turns each at trying to administer the spinal block before giving up and moving on to an epidural, and still – nuthin!!!!  I could feel everything, and so, they knocked me out!!!!  I woke up an hour later, with Nik by my side and our gorgeous little boy Cas in a tiny glass cot beside him.  I was so morphin-ed out of it, I couldn’t see straight and it took a while to connect to what had just happened.
That was a week ago, I got out of hospital on Friday and we’ve been very happy in our babymoon bubble getting to know each other.  I don’t regret anything about his birth, it was what was meant to be.  If anything, as he was 10lbs I am very very very happy that he came out the sunroof…….
But the HypnoBirthing was amazing for me, and really, really helped along the way in so many situations.
I hope to see you in the cafe soon with Cas, and I’m spreading the Kat Berry joy to any pregnant ladies I meet!!!

Thanks for everything and lots of love

Dara, Nik & Cas
