Dealing with obstetric cholestasis

Here’s Nora, 1 month early but a punchy 6.1lbs and already being called ‘feisty’ by the midwives.
Another example of how HypnoBirthing can help in all circumstances… Having been diagnosed with Obstetric Cholestasis at 32 weeks there were discussions about bringing Nora out very early. Together with the great medical support from the Royal Free and with information, relaxation, a positive approach and specific hypnosis sessions Ginny’s levels dropped and stabilised so she was able to eventually go home and give her baby that amazingly beneficial extra four weeks in utero.
“I just wanted to say what an amazing experience I had with the calming OC script last night. I really did not dare hope that on first listen I would be able to summon the focus to ignore the itching but your script took me through it and gave me confidence that I can overcome this without going stir crazy and that a good night’s sleep is possible. The experience has also renewed my confidence in the power of positive thought and I am now thinking more proactively about ways that I can deal with and tackle this condition, rather than just be passenger to it. ”
Husband Charles said: “It’s really funny how pregnancy throws curveballs at you. When you had previously read us those lovely stories of how hypnobirthing had worked for some couples either through adversity or just as a tool for birth, I genuinely couldn’t imagine us being in a situation where hypnosis would be *so* helpful. But since our Sunday chat and the new specific Ginny/condition scripts (and I think on her behalf a renewed belief and understanding of how hypnosis can help a very hospital related experience), Ginny has been much calmer and seemingly less itchy. And generally more up than down (obvs we still have the odd cry ;-)). Sure, could be the drugs, could be her mind over matter, could be whatever. But I’m pretty damn sure a seriously significant slab of her demeanour, if not all of it, is the hypnobirthing. The confidence and belief and element of control over the situation is hugely beneficial. And I’m even listening to them after her as well and I’m loving them! So, er, in shorter fashion: thanks!”
