Birth really is one of the most wonderful and amazing things I have ever done.

Felix is here and it turns out he wasn’t for waiting either. Sam and I had our baby,at home and unintentionally it was an undisturbed birth. Midwife arrived 15 seconds after Felix was born and Sam caught him. we had a beautiful cold afternoon TOGETHER 😉 watching Wedding Crashers and playing with Max. throughout the whole day surges remained between 5 and 3 mins and we breathed through it all. At 4:30 I thought surges had tapered off,so as Sam got Max dinner and bathed him as i continued to listen to a relaxation .We were Thinking we would be labouring into the night so the thinking was to put Max into bed,so we could concentrate together and get things moving again. How wrong we were as Felix was ready and he wasn’t waiting… My water released at 5:50and 18 minutes later he was here… as Max watched Play School (stroke of genius by Sam) . It wasn’t dramatic at all and possibly the most beautiful thing Sam and I have done together. He is a beauty 7 pound 6 born on the winter solstice (and my Dad’s bday).
Just wanted to let you know however that our discussions continued to resonate with me leading into our birth particularly the one about not intellectualising the process and accept whatever path it leads. I can authentically say I did this and I GET IT! Just before my water released I felt like I was falling asleep. Upon reflection I was quite well advanced in my labour . Pain was anaesthetised by all the natural chemicals. i could feel myself right before he crowned teeter on the edge of trying to keep in control, however I just let my body do what I hadbeen telling myself. Well in a nutshell … I got it.
Anyway, thank you again… Birth really is one of the most wonderful and amazing things I have ever done.
