Description

Hypnosis is as old as the human race. The phenomenon known as hypnosis has existed since the beginning of recorded history, as found in the folklore of ancient cultures. It is a powerful practice for going beyond habitual, conditioned thought patterns into a state of expanded awareness. We connect to what is known as the field of infinite possibilities or pure potentiality, and we open to new insights, intuition, and ideas.

The emotional effects of sitting quietly and going within are also profound. The deep state of rest produced by hypnosis triggers the brain to release neurotransmitters, including dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins. Each of these naturally occurring brain chemicals has been linked to different aspects of relaxation, happiness and optimal physical health.

It’s only natural to feel anxious in the face of uncertainty and dis-ease.

Outright fear caused by overthinking, worry and stress is more harmful than it is helpful however.  I’ve written before about why kindness is the antidote to stress, the hormonal and physical response in the body to acts of kindness regulates the nervous system to produce oxytocin and endorphins, the hormones of connection, love, empathy – humanity. This is turn halts the production of adrenaline and cortisol, the stress hormones responsible for the “freeze, fight or flight response” which results in tension, fear, problems with sleep and digestion and just about every physical and emotional dis-order you can think of.

Regulating our nervous system in times of stress, prompting the parasympathetic “calm, healing” response not only grounds us emotionally in times of change but promotes healing, boosts immunity and allows the body to work at it’s optimum level.

To encourage you to make time for yourself to calm the mind and body, I’ve created a hypnosis session specifically designed to help you relax and boost your immune system.

Visualising something creates changes in the brain. In many ways the brain can’t tell the difference between what’s real and what a person imagines. Just as neuroscience studies show that if we think about moving a part of the body, the area of the brain that governs that part is activated; so too studies on the immune system show that visualising the action of the immune system can enhance it’s function.

Whilst it’s accurate to assume that some of the benefits come from a reduction in stress with hypnosis or meditation there’s more to it than that and many studies have shown surprising cell specific benefits to visualisation.

A word about the music used this recording:

Composed primarily with Tibetan Singing Bowls, ‘Deep Beneath the Dreaming’ by Christopher Lloyd Clarke is an incredibly relaxing musical experience with a mystical atmosphere and a sophisticated tapestry of intermingled sounds. The deep tones and extremely slow pacing of this music encourage mental deceleration and help the listener relax into very deep states of consciousness.

Utilising brainwave entrainment the large singing bowl that makes up the main sound oscillates at a frequency of 0.75 Hz – a deep delta tone. Unlike binaural beats and isochronic tones, which are usually synthesised, the oscillations produced by singing bowls are “organic” brainwave entrainment sounds. What you are effectively hearing is a monaural beat created in a very natural and traditional way. This delta frequency is the most dominant frequency in the music, but other bowls contribute a variety of other frequencies ranging from mid-delta to low-alpha and everything in between. These frequencies naturally encourage deep meditative states of consciousness.
