Imbolc : Emergence

£30.00

Imbolc is the cross-quarter festival which marks the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.

Now, the days begin to grow longer and barren trees stir with new life. In a few short weeks, we’ll see all forms of new life emerge. We don’t have much more of the darkness and cold of winter to bear.

For now, however, the Earth remains in slumber, Spring still only a faint whisper.

This is time to appreciate the last beat of Winter’s rest and nourish our bodies, minds and spirit with ritual, meditation, sound, silence and ceremony.

Description

Imbolc offers the chance to celebrate the significance of the midway point between Yule and the Spring Equinox here in the Northern hemisphere.

The sun has begun his journey back to full strength, the days are lengthening as the nights shorten, foretelling the season to come. The Earth is stirring – the sap begins to rise and bulbs are pushing through the earth. For now, however, the Earth remains in slumber, Spring still only a faint whisper.

It’s time to remember that Winter has it’s purpose – as do all seasons. Winter’s medicine is about rest, recovery, and going within. When we rest enough during Winter, we have the energy we need to sustain us for the remainder of the year. If you feel you haven’t rested enough, you have some time still to tend to your needs, to restore and replenish your energies for the coming waking seasons.

We gather on a Sunday morning to appreciate that magical moment where our awareness is first called to the gentle change in the tone of light and honour Winter’s rest as we nourish our bodies, minds and spirit with ritual, meditation, reflection, sound bath, silence and ceremony.
