In the brain all things happen in the same moment.
And that moment is now.
Imagination makes it possible to experience a whole world inside the mind. It gives the ability to look at any situation from a different point of view, and to mentally explore the past and the future. It’s a form of time travel really… Revisitng a memory and remembering something that hasn’t happened yet.
Imagination has a great role and value in each one’s life. It is much more than just idle daydreaming. We all use it, whether consciously or unconsciously, in most of our daily affairs. We use our imagination whenever we plan a party or a trip, when we describe an event, explain how to arrive to a certain street, or tell a story.
Imagination is a creative power which has an important role in the achievement of success in any field. What we imagine with faith and feelings comes into being. It is the important ingredient of creative visualisation, positive thinking and affirmations. It forms the basis of hypnobirthing preparation for childbirth, it’s a cornerstone of hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy: focussing on what you want, rather than what you don’t.
Visualising an object or a situation, and repeating often this mental image, attracts the object or situation we visualise into our lives. This opens for us new, vast and fascinating opportunities. Given the negativity bias of the human brain however it’s possible that our imaginations can run riot focussing on all that we don’t want.
Seneca, a Roman Stoic philosopher, said: ““We are more often frightened than hurt, and we suffer more from imagination than from reality.”
It’s a conscious effort to choose your focus of awareness and your imagination is one of the keys to living life on a new level. You will never go to any place without first seeing it within your mind. Learn to use your imagination to raise your thinking to a higher level. Practice using your imagination for good.
